What is a clinical trial?

A clinical trial is a type of clinical research study that aims to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of a novel investigational medical treatment or intervention.

Is participation mandatory if I enroll in a clinical trial?

No. Participating in a clinical trial is voluntary, and you are able to withdraw at any time. Participation in a trial also does not affect your relationship with your physician or care team.

Who do clinical trials benefit?

Everyone! They provide patients with a novel product that may provide increased efficacy in treating their condition, advance scientific knowledge with new data on disease causes and pathology, and support your doctors in developing new therapeutic approaches to your case.

Who oversees my care during a clinical trial?

The investigator (a physician) directly oversees your care during this process along with the appointed research team members.

Where are clinical trials conducted?

They are performed locally and are accessible across many locations near you. At our research site, clinical trials are done in-house and available for existing patients and members of our community.

What procedures are done during a clinical trial?

Many procedures may be done during a clinical trial that include: blood draws, ECG's, written questionnaires and/or clinical assessments, and review of medical history.

Am I compensated for my participation?

Yes, compensation is commonly offered for participation and often includes financial reimbursement for visits and travel expenses.

Who covers the cost of the procedure(s) and medical product(s)?

The cost of all study-related procedures, and for the investigative product is covered by the sponsor directly. You and your insurance are not charged for these.
